Samsung Galaxy Home Smart Speaker launches this year by April, CEO reveals

At its unpacked event in San Francisco, Samsung opened its first fashionable smartphone Galaxy Fold and launched the new Galaxy S10 series smartphones. The company also launched a new version of three new smartwatch and its actual wireless earbuds. The large-scale incident seemed missing that Apple’s homepad was the company’s rival for the Smartphone Smart Speaker. Samsung’s Galaxy home, launched in August last year, is expected to launch in April this year.

Samsung’s mobile business head DJ Koh told CNET that the much-awaited Galaxy Home Smart Speaker will be launched by April this year. Last year, the Bixby powered speaker was revealed with the Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung again showed the Galaxy Home at a developer conference in November last year, but so far the launch did not reveal the timeline.

Galaxy Home Smart Speaker aims to focus on appleboard better sound quality. Samsung says that it worked with Hernan, its subsidiary, which helped to create good sound quality speakers.

Samsung’s Smart Speaker is powered by the company’s Virtual Assistant Bixby. The initial demo was not more successful with the Samsung executives who faced issues that tried to work properly on Bixby during the live demo at the launch event last year. Users will be able to control Smart Speakers using voice commands. Galaxy Home will work as a hub for the Smartthings platform of the company.

The Galaxy Home has eight microphones that allow the speaker to listen to any point where they are located in a room. Samsung claims that its smart speaker can also make the sound ‘steer’ for the direction of the person.

At the end of last year, there was speculation that Samsung might possibly work on the small version of the Galaxy Home. If this is true, then Samsung can launch the Galaxy Home at two different price points by April this year.

It would be interesting to see how Samsung mobilized the smart speaker market. Amazon and Google are currently the market leaders (in terms of shipment) with their echo and home speakers in smart speaker market respectively. Hopefully Apple will launch a new variant of its homepad speaker this year.
